Two people were arrested at Phuket International Airport earlier this week for attempting to smuggle cocaine hidden in their luggage.
Police say they discovered a total of 6 kilogrammes of cocaine with a street vale of more than 30 million baht in the two separate arrests.
47-year-old Swiss national Peter Balmer was arrested on Monday for attempting to smuggle 4 kg of cocaine, which had been coloured black to avoid detection and hidden in the lining of his suitcase.
39 year-old Thai national Ms Pimpisa Piangyota was arrested on Tuesday with 2 kg of pure cocaine in her suitcase.
Police said the cocaine had come from South America, and was being smuggled through Phuket Airport to another destinations. They believed that both the suspected smugglers were carrying drugs originating through the same network, although both the suspects said they did not know each other.

Phuket police were on high alert after receiving information that a shipment of cocaine was on its way to Thailand from South America, making the arrests after scanning the suspects’ luggage.
Mr Balmer reportedly admitted he was to be paid 200,000 baht (US$6,000) for transporting the luggage to Thailand from Bolivia.
He was arrested while attempting to clear Customs at the airport.
Miss Pimpisa had arrived in Phuket from Brazil, where she claimed the drugs had been put in her luggage without her knowledge.
She said she had been on a 2-week holiday paid for by a man she had met a few months ago in Bangkok.
The man had given her US$2,000 spending money, she said.

Ms Pimpisa was arrested before boarding a connecting flight to Bangkok.
The pair are being held until put on trial.
